Getting Started

10/10/16

Today I registered on a site called PixelFlow, which is what we’ll be using to upload our progress and get a look at the video clips we get to choose for the project. Manny and I also spoke for the first time via email to set up a skype session to discuss which video we want to go for and to get to know each other a little better of course.

Manny and I had our first Skype today. It was a great way to get to know each other face to face. Being able to actually talk in real time and not rely on email or online chat, is a far superior medium for this kind of collaboration.

After brief introductions we quickly chose the video clip “Silent.” We felt this clip would quite complex due to its many environment changes, and cartoony vibe, but a good chance to demonstrate our abilities.  So we easily arrived on this as our choice. Which is a good sign I guess. We found the second choice, “The Time Fixer,” to be a bit boring and overall very cheesy. We both wanted to be proud of our finished product come the completion of it, and If we chose the Time Fixer we would have been kind of embarrassed by it.

Manny also took the time to do a rough cue sheet via Pixelflow, detailing the various parts were he felt the music should change and how it should sound.

So yeah, great way to start the collaboration. And I’m now very excited to start recording sounds!
